Our Recent Trip to the New Forest

I’ve been a little quiet recently… my husband and I with our dog Millie slipped away for a short break in the New Forest, and it was exactly what we needed. We stayed in our campervan on the most wonderful, peaceful campsite — surrounded by trees, birdsong, and peace that gives you space to breathe and unwind in nature.

One of the highlights was meeting the friendliest blackbird, who visited us every day. He came right up close, completely relaxed, hopping around us as he went about his day. That was really special.

We spent a lot of time walking the woodland trails with Mille because the weather was very hot and stopping for lots of drinks of water. Even though she’s blind now and doesn’t hear very well, she absolutely loved it. Her world comes alive through scent, and watching her enjoy every sniff was pure joy for us.

As well as the trails we explored Brockenhurst, Burley and Hengistbury Head — each place with its own charm and we saw so many ponies and cows roaming around. At one point we even had to stop the campervan to let a group of cows cross the road… they took their time, and we didn’t mind one bit.

It was only a short trip, but we were able to relax and enjoy nature with the kind of quiet that restores you from the inside out.
